Dog days of summer?  Not in Long Beach, where sports action is just beginning to heat up as the high school baseball playoffs enter the quarterfinals this Friday as everyone’s preseason favorite Wilson takes on Hart.  The Bruins are looking every bit the defending national champions after a rocky start to the season, and as the team proceeds deeper into the playoffs, LBPOSTSports has got you covered.

Check out J.J. Fiddler’s recent pieces about not only the victory that sent Wilson to the quarters, but also a vivid writeup about the Long Beach Armada’s heartfelt efforts to reach out to Chinese earthquake victims as part of last weekend’s series against the Chinese National Team at Blair Field.  Read on to see how the Armada will stack up this season and check back for the latest in Armada news and analysis as your summer thirst for baseball continues to grow.

Speaking of the Armada’s return, one of the LBPOSTSports staff’s very own makes a special return back to the city, as Mike Guardabascio recently completed a seven-week road trip across America because… well, because he could.  Check out the latest LBPOST Sports Night podcast here for details and hilarious stories about the trip, as well as recent local sports news that we haven’t yet covered in text.  Also, you can still follow the road trip along on the “Mike Across America” blogs as we get to updating them.  This week: Savannah, GA.

To top it all off, we’d like to welcome new Sports poster Glendon Hardin to the team.  Glendon will be writing and reporting on the latest in local mixed martial arts, from big events and rising stars to the city’s most prominent participants and ambassadors.  Check out his debut post right now, about a former Brasilian prodigy bringing his jiu jitsu experience to Long Beach.

All that and much more to come as we delve into the crazy world that is Long Beach sports.
