Long Beach Chief of Police Anthony Batts, 47, of Long Beach, has been appointed to the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.  He has served on the commission since 2004 and is immediate past chair.  Batts has served several positions in the LBPD since 1982.

He previously served as deputy chief of police, captain, lieutenant commander, sergeant, detective and patrol officer at
LBPD.  Batts is a member of the California Police Chiefs Association and the National Conference for Community and Justice Board of Directors.  Additionally, he is a member of the Police Executive Research Forum and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.  This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no salary.  Batts is registered decline-to-state.
