8:30am | The Long Beach Gay & Lesbian Pride Parade, one of the city’s largest annual events, will kick off today and roll down Ocean Boulevard with a host of special guests and honorees to celebrate the festivities.

The fun starts at 9:30am on Cherry Avenue and Ocean with music, prize giveaways and high-flying stunts, until the actual floats start rolling west along the coast at around 10:30am.

City Councilmembers Robert Garcia and Gerrie Schipske will serve as Political Grand Marshalls and State Senator Alan Lowenthal will be honored with the Whitey Littlefield Bridge Builder award. Judges will award the best floats and there’s plenty more to do and celebrate at one of the nation’s largest celebrations of equality.
