The 54-year old female driver was transported to a local trauma center, according to the Long Beach Fire Department blog. The 63-year old male driver of the other car involved was not injured and not transported.

Department spokesman Jackawa Jackson writes on the blog that apparently the male driver was pulling out of a storage facility in his Ford Taurus when the collision occurred as the SUV traveled down Redondo.  The force from the accident sent the SUV through a chain link fence and into its steeply-banked position. Rescue workers handled the scene with extreme care as the driver was stuck in her vehicle due to the damage, and there was also the possibility of the car sliding down the slope and injuring a rescue worker.
