7:00am | Councilmember Dee Andrews will ask his colleagues at tomorrow’s City Council meeting to direct the City Manager to develop a plan to aid recently released prisoners as California prepares for the release of 6,500 inmates in the next year.
According to the Press-Telegram this morning: Andrews wants the prisoners who end up in Long Beach to be given opportunities to find jobs and leave crime behind. These “low-level” prisoners are being released under budget-cutting legislation signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last year.
