11:30am | Senior Tipesa Moorer and freshman Alex Sanchez were named to the 2011-12 All-Big West Women’s Basketball Team the conference office announced Monday morning.

Moorer was a second-team selection, while Sanchez garnered honorable mention recognition. Sanchez was also one of five members chosen to the All-Freshman Team.

Moorer earned her first career Big West honor after registering a team-high 13.3 points per game. Her average also ranks sixth in the conference. In addition, Moorer has made 42.9 percent of her shots and has pulled down 4.7 rebounds per outing.

The Harbor City, Calif., native reached double figures in scoring in 23 of 29 games, including three 20-plus point performances. She finished with 20 points against Cal State Fullerton, 21 at UC Riverside and a career-high 24 at UC Davis. Moorer also notched two double-doubles with 18 points and 11 rebounds against Nevada and 13 points and 11 boards in the season opener vs. Utah Valley. Moorer was named the Big West Player of the Week on Jan. 23.

Sanchez finished the regular season ranked second on the team with 9.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 89 assists and 43 steals. She was also sixth in the conference in field goal percentage (44.3) and ninth in free throw percentage (74.2). The Anaheim, Calif., native has totaled 15 double-digit scoring games with a career-high 20 points at Washington. She notched her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds at Sacramento State and also dished out a season-high eight assists against Western Michigan.
