
The Long Beach City College women’s basketball team suffered a 54-32 non-conference loss to Glendale College in its home opener on Saturday at the Hall of Champions Gym. The loss dropped Long Beach to 0-5 while Glendale improved to 3-2.
Glendale held a commanding 29-13 at halftime and never looked back. Despite outrebounding Glendale 47-35, LBCC shot just 20 percent from the field (10 of 49) for the game.
Sophomore guard Yumi Takano led LBCC with 12 points. She also added two assists and two steals. Sophomore forward Cristina Lajkowicz and freshman forward Aysha Lyons both posted 10 rebounds. Glendale had four players score in double-figures with Rachel Estrella and Amanda Gupilan leading all with 15 points.
The LBCC women’s basketball team returns to action next Wednesday (Nov. 26) with a non-conference game at East Los Angeles College.
