It was a great night to be in the ‘Myd, as a Monson Maniac won $1,000, the 49ers won to stay tied for first place, and the university said goodbye to four great seniors, who were playing in their final game at home.  It was also the night that a freshman, Casper Ware, unveiled…the CaspFro.

Now, I’ve never coined a nickname for another man’s haircut, and frankly, I don’t plan on doing it again—that said, I have filed the necessary trademarking paperwork to ensure that the CaspFro™ will live on, even if the point guard reins his ‘do back in.

The Senior Night ceremony was held after the game, which was a great decision, though would have been a horrible decision if the team hadn’t won.  Fortunately they did, and that meant the players were juiced, the coaches were happy, and the postgame timing meant each ‘Niner could address the crowd on their final night playing in the Pyramid.  Cornell Williams, Brian Freeman, Mo Clady, and D. Mo all took the mic and thanked their family, the alumni, and the student section, after coach Dan Monson introduced them.

Clady, who brought his daughter on-court, said that his time with the team was the best two years of his life, and D. Mo, to the surprise of nobody, neglected to say anything about himself until he’d asked the crowd to applaud all of his teammates.  In other words, Morris was the same guy on Senior Night that he’s been all season: the consummate team player.

As the home crowd wished its departing seniors farewell, a youth movement broke out in the stands as yet more Moore League hoops players came through the ‘Myd to take in the action, including Millikan’s Kierre Beverly, and Poly’s Ryan Anderson.

For all the other various sights of the night, we’ll let the photos and captions speak for themselves!

The athletic department is hoping to pass the Beach Legacy Referendum to keep the university competitive, and make some crucial upgrades—the graduating seniors from this year’s 49er teams made their case to the student section at halftime.

Mr. Chairman, I hereby move that Pyramid hats shall henceforth be readily purchasable at all Long Beach State games.  All opposed?  Alright, then.

I will never fully understand what happened here
