UPDATE 2: Spoke with coach Buggs Saturday evening, and he confirmed that Oliver is at a Las Vegas tournament, and that she’s opened back up to national recruiting.  It sounds like paperwork might not be finalized yet, with USC not having a coaching staff in place and Oliver being out of town.  We also heard anonymously that Texas and Maryland would be the two leading candidates if Oliver decides not to stay local.  More as we get it!
UPDATE 1: Just heard back from USC’s SID in charge of women’s basketball, Darcy Couch.  She says she hadn’t heard anything yet about LOIs, but info appears to be a little scattered with no coaching staff  in place.

We’ve heard that Monique Oliver has been released from her letter of intent by USC. The All-American could be the first of many commits to jump ship following the firing of head coach Mark Trakh.

It raises a number of incredibly interesting scenarios, from Oliver joining former Poly All-American Jasmine Dixon at UCLA to her finding a way to follow Jody Wynn, the USC assistant who recruited her, to Long Beach State.  The team is currently full on scholarships, but if something could be arranged Oliver could end up the centerpiece of a rebuilding program.
