4:55pm | Sophomore Jonathan Sanders ran 52.35 to win the 400-meter hurdles at the 2011 California Community College Athletic Association Track and Field State Championships on Saturday at American River College in Sacramento.

With the individual state title win, Sanders earned 10 of LBCC’s 21 team points that led to a 13th-place state championship team finish.

Sanders was also a member of the LBCC 4×100-meter relay team that took third place. A freshmen trio of Derek Speight, Daveon Collins and Kiree Jabril, along with Sanders at anchor, ran 40.91.

In other events for the LBCC men, freshman Corey Winston took sixth place in the triple jump with a mark of 47-8 ½. Sophomore Marquan Jackson ran 15.28 in the 100-meter hurdles to earn seventh place. Sophomore Kunhee Bang finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 22-8.
