A few dozen Long Beach football players will be at Cerritos College tonight in the 43rd Annual 605 All-Star Game, which kicks off at (ha) 6:05pm.  Tickets will be $11 and will be available at the door—it’s a veritable Moore League all-star showing with 25 local players strapping on helmets for the East and West teams.

Actually—24 players will strap on helmets for the West team, and a lone Long Beach player, Poly QB Chris Leachman, will play for the East side.  Poly’s players (along with three other schools) were moved to the opposite side of the field to make the game more competitive.  Since Cory Westbrook and Ryan Goforth of Poly have elected not to play, Leachman will be a lonely Jackrabbit.

Among others on the West side, which will be coached by Wilson’s coaching staff, will be Lakewood’s Terrence Woods, Wilson’s Ezell Ruffin, Millikan’s Alden Darby, Compton’s James McConico, Jordan’s Princeton Fuimaono, Cabrillo’s Derek Speight, and St. Anthony’s Frank Hornberger.

And if you don’t think seeing all those players on one field is worth $11, especially in football-starved June…well, I don’t know what to do with you.  We’ll have full coverage of the game later Saturday night, hopefully we’ll see you there!
