An astounding 15 players in the local Beach Futbol Club made the cut for the US youth Soccer Olympic Development Program’s (ODP) summer pool. The BFC trains in Long Beach on the Long Beach State campus at George Allen Field on campus, as well as other fields around the city; Long Beach State women’s soccer coach Mauricio Ingrassia is the club’s director.
These fifteen players will receive incredible training as part of the pool that the US National Teams draw from. Named to the ODP were Tavia Leachman, Savannah DeMelo, Rocio Rodriguiz, Artrea Williams, Taylor Bistline, Chelsey Campbell, Emma Malsy and Tara Kazimi who play for the G98 and G97 teams. From the G96 team, Kimberly Keever, Shannon Smith, and Kirsten Buono have been selected for the 2010 pool as well. These individuals join previously selected Beach members Sam Moreno and Sydney Wells. Cesar Barbosa and Dylan Juarez from B97 represent the BFC’s boys’ program.
