Last week we brought you coverage of the Moore League golf individual tournament, as well as news about the six golfers who qualified to move on to Monday’s CIF tourney. With the first round finished, three of those golfers have qualified to advance to Thursday’s Individual Finals, to be held at the Mountain Meadows Golf Course.
After the 18 holes Monday at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club (with a par of 72), Lakewood’s Kati Thompson finished in a tie for 59th (out of 91 golfers), Millikan’s young Alex Ross shot a 90 to place in 66th, and Wilson’s Alex Hoye came in with a 93, to tie for 71st. The individual season for all three has finished, as only the top 45 finishers moved on.
Among those 45 are all three Poly players who entered the tournament, with Lauren Deaderick leading the way with a score of 82, to finish in a tie for 37th—Deaderick actually was the lowest-ranked Jackrabbit coming into the tournament, since she finished third in the Moore League finals. That tourney’s winner, Ligaya Estoque, placed in a tie for 40th, with a score of 83—her younger sister, Kristel, finished with the exact same score.
All three Jackrabbits will compete Thursday in the finals—for the other golfers, their whole season isn’t quite finished, as the Moore League Team tourney is still to be played. It will begin next Monday, at Menifee Lakes Country Club at 8am.
