What, you thought we were going to slow down?  It’s week two of league play, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring you the latest news and highlights from around the city, as rivalries old and new were joined on the gridiron.  That crisp air must mean it’s October, and that must mean we’re getting into the meat of the season…

Cabrillo

Well, the Jaguars lost again (this time to Lakewood), but they continue to show flashes of improvement game to game.  They’re a young squad and their coach has them believing, so don’t count them out yet.  Click here to read about the Jaguars’ game against the Lancers.

Compton

It was a hard-fought battle, but ultimately Compton came out on top, beating Wilson on the Bruins’ home turf. Click here for the full story and a highlight video of the game.

Jordan

In our season preview, we called the Panthers the dark horse to make some noise in the Moore League this year.  A swarming, physical defense, a creative quarterback, and a hungry young team have Jordan at 4-1, and are making us look smart.  Click here to find out why we’re patting ourselves on the back, and to see the highlight.

Lakewood

After last week’s loss to Poly dropped them to 0-5, Lakewood was looking to get back on the right track, which they did at home this week against Cabrillo. Click here for the full story.

Millikan

Millikan was an on-the-cusp team last year, and looked to be again this year.  After last week’s tough loss to Wilson, and falling to Jordan again this week, they may be falling off that cusp.  Click here to read the story and see the video highlight.

Poly

Poly was the only Moore League team playing a nonleague opponent tonight, as they took on national powerhouse St. Bonaventure in the green and gold confines of Vet’s Stadium. Click here for the full story, and check back later this weekend to see the highlight.

Wilson

Wilson’s win over Millikan last year gave them a winning record after week five, amazing after they were 1-4 at that point last season.  But would their enthusiasm be enough to contain Compton’s vaunted running game?  Click here to find out, and to see the highlight video.
