Jordan 70, Cabrillo 60
In a must-game win for both teams, the Panthers defended home court with a ten-point win, moving them to 3-3 after the first round of league play, while Cabrillo fell to 2-3 (and will play Poly in a postponed game on Monday).
Lakewood 45, Wilson 39
On a night Lakewood dedicated their gym in honor of former coach Tim Sweeney (who led the team to a CIF title in the early 80s), the Lancers did him proud with a win over Wilson. The win puts Lakewood at 3-3 (with a tiebreak over Jordan) while Wilson falls to 0-6.
Girls:
Wilson 53, Lakewood 34
The Bruins took it to the Lancers on the road, holding them to just 22 points after three quarters. The win keeps Wilson in the hunt after the first round of league play, at 3-3, while Lakewood falls to 1-5.
Poly 95, Compton 32
The Jackrabbits improved to 5-0 with the win and will play a postponed game against Cabrillo on Monday—they also play defending Division 5 state champion Bell-Jeff on Saturday at the Ayala Extravaganza. Compton falls to 0-6 with the loss.
