None of them were playing for the title (that was Westchester and Leuzinger), but Poly, Jordan, and Lakewood all won their final games at the Ocean View Tournament of Champions over the weekend.
Lakewood beat Killarney in the last game of the tournament (besides the championship), 74-37, and were led by Jared Garber, who rebounded from his quiet game against the West Valley Mustangs last week to score 13.
Jordan defeated Clovis West 68-48, as the Panthers’ stifling D created a ton of turnovers—Albert Wiley poured in 23. After the game, Jordan’s Bernard Taylor was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Poly led through much of the second half, but Garces roared back into it in the fourth, coming back to tie it and force overtime. The Jackrabbits maintained composure and pulled out an 82-72 win to close their tournament schedule, led by Alexis Moore who had 16 points and 6 assists. Poly’s junior standout Shelton Boykins was named All-Tournament as well.
