Wilson def. Cabrillo, 6-2

The Bruins got a much-needed win against the Jags at Skip Rowland Field on Friday, with Chris Hubbard giving up 2 earned runs and 2 hits in 5.1 innings of work, striking out 8 while walking only a pair.  The Bruin bats came out of the bags and they scored in each of the first four innings, taking a 6-0 lead into the fifth inning.  Philip Visico went 1-3 with 2 runs, and Daniel DeWolf was 1-2 with a run and a RBI.  Daniel Martinez and Estaban Gonzalez split time on the mound for the Jags, giving up three earned runs each. Louie Terrazas was 1-2 with a run.  Wilson improved to 3-2 with the win, while Cabrillo fell to 1-5.

Poly def. Compton, 15-1

The Jackrabbits were boosted by a nine-run first inning to their fifth league win, keeping them unblemished at 5-0.  Compton fell to 2-3.  A bunt single by Daniel Cook, a single by Thomas Walker, and a single by Henry Severson loaded the bases, and three consecutive walks got the scoring started.  Cook tripled in three runs later in the first to give Poly an 8-0 lead.

Lakewood def. Jordan, 17-2

Jeff Yamaguchi stayed perfect this year at 6-0 with the decision over the Panthers, which improved Lakewood to 4-1, ahead of a crucial Tuesday night showdown with Poly.  The scoring started early, after J.P. Crawford singled and stole second, and was driven in by Tyler Leidholdt’s single.  The Lancers held a 4-0 lead after one, and notched 16 hits.  Yamaguchi was 4-5 with a  triple, and three RBI, and Leidholdt was 3-3 with four runs.  Jordan falls to 0-5.
