Last year, nearly 500 Long Beach middle school athletes participated in the Middle School Cross Country Championship, the largest single-day event in the middle school athletics program.  This year will be the fifth time the meet’s held, June 5th at Heartwell Park, with age-group races for each gender.  Sixth grade girls will start at 8am, sixth grade boys at 8:30am, seventh grade girls’ at 9am, etc.  All participants will receive a prize for finishing the race, and there’s an award for the top six finishers in each race.
