Senior Naomi Washington was named the Big West Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 14. Washington was named to the All-Tournament team at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans, leading the 49ers to a 2-1 record.

Washington set a career high against tournament host Tulane, finishing with 29 kills against the Green Wave in a 3-2 win, besting her previous high by nine kills. She hit .339 in that match, helping the 49ers snap a 25-match home winning streak for Tulane.

On the weekend, Washington finished with 61 kills overall with 10 digs and nine blocks. She had 19 kills in a win over New Orleans and 13 kills in a loss to LSU, leading Long Beach State to a three-way tie in the tournament. 

Washington is the first 49er to be honored by the Big West this season.
