From LBSU reports
Friday was a big day for Long Beach State tennis, as the 49ers won all nine matches on the day to win 7-0 over UC Riverside. It was their second consecutive sweep, and Hannah Grady became the school’s all-time wins leader with a singles and doubles victory—she was already the all-time singles winner. The 49ers are now 3-0 in conference play.
Long Beach State started the day with a dominant performance in doubles, as Rachel Manasse and Anais Dallara dropped the Sakhakorn sisters at No. 3 8-0, while Grady/Weeks and Armstrong/Sutton only dropped three games between them in a 3-0 doubles sweep for the point.
In singles, Hannah Grady picked up win number 149 in her career to pass Stephanie Bengson for the top spot in combined wins in school history. Already the schools singles record holder, Grady defeated Erynne Oki 6-3, 6-1 to take the combined record. Deborah Armstrong also cruised in a 6-2, 6-1 win over Donna McCullough.
Rachel Manasse picked up the toughest win of the day, 7-5, 7-5, while Julie Luzar also grabbed a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. Lisa Sutton and Anais Dallara also picked up singles wins in the 7-0 win.
No. 42 Long Beach State continues home play tomorrow, hosting No. 58 Saint Mary’s at 11am on Saturday, February 28.
