Facing a difficult opponent on the road, Long Beach State women’s water polo lost to No. 2 USC 11-5. Lauren Sieprath and Branwyn Lee each scored two goals for the Beach.
Long Beach State fell behind early against the Trojans, as USC scored four first quarter goals to LBSU’s one, leading to a 6-3 halftime edge, which the Trojans would continue to extend through the match.
Kristen Stragier made nine saves, while Ceclia Canetti rounded out the scoring, combined with a pair of goals each for Sieprath and Lee.
Long Beach State, now 4-8 on the season, continues a busy weekend by traveling to Santa Barbara for the USCB Invitational, where the team will play four games over the next two days.
