The No. 48 ranked Long Beach State women’s golf team roared through the opening round of the Anteater Invitational as the 49ers shot a 302 at the Dove Canyon Country Club to finish in second place. LBSU is just one stroke back behind first place San Francisco.

Senior All-American Kay Hoey recorded a two-over par 73 to finish in a four-way tie for third place and is just one shot behind first place leaders Jennifer Bermingham of UC Riverside and Chelsea Stelzmiller of UC Davis.

Freshman Lee Lopez is one stroke behind with a 74 as she finished the day tied for seventh with one other player.

Sophomore Lindsey McAtee carded a six-over 77 to tie for 17th, while junior Brenda Chhuor shot a 78 to tie for 19th. Sophomore Reina Rogers tied for 36th with an 11-over 82.
