Long Beach State recorded their best round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational as they shot a 29-over par 317 to tie for 11th place with Brigham Young. The 49ers carded a 322 and 329 in the first two rounds for a three-day score of 104-over 968 at the par-72, 6,136 yard Sahalee Country Club.

California won the team championship in the 13-team field by 15-strokes over second place Stanford (912) and 20-strokes over third place Pepperdine (917). The Golden Bears finished with an 10-over 987 for the tournament.

LBSU was led by sophomore Noelle Zavaleta as she recorded her first top 20 finish as a 49er as she tied for 20th. Zavaleta carded a seven-over 79 on Wednesday’s final round to finish 17-over 233.

Freshman Simone Hoey moved up in the standings from 46th as she fired a four-over 76 to tie for 35th. Hoey recorded an 82 and 81 on the first two days to finish with a tournament total of 23-over 239.

Junior Reina Rogers finished the day with a 13-over 35 to tie for 53rd for a three-round score of 249.

Senior Brenda Chhuor improved by seven shots from Tuesday’s second round 89 as she carded an 82 to tie for 59th.

Freshman Reece Feducia recorded her best round of the tournament with an eight-over 80 to finish in 68th.

Katrina Delen Briones of San Jose State won the individual medalist by one-stroke over second place Natasha Podmore of San Francisco. Briones finished the tournament with an one-under 219.

The 49ers return to action as they travel to the Hawaii Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii. The three-day tournament begins on Nov. 2.
