The Long Beach State women’s golf team travels up to the Northwest as they take part in the 28th annual Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted by the University of Washington, Oct. 5-7. The three-round tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,136-yard Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. as the 49ers will be among 13 teams (Pepperdine, California, Stanford, Idaho, Oregon, San Jose State, San Francisco, BYU, Long Beach State, Washington State, Oregon State, New Mexico State and Washington).
Freshmen Simone Hoey and Reece Feducia, sophomore Noelle Zavaleta, junior Reina Rogers and seniorBrenda Chhuor will represent LBSU in this year’s tournament. Feducia (formerly Speckmeyer) will be playing her first collegiate tournament after redshirting last year for the 49ers.
Last year, the 49ers finished in sixth place out of 13 teams. LBSU shot a 73-over 937. Rogers tied for 54th with a 30-over 246 and Chuuor finished in 64th with a 36-over 252.
This will be the 49ers second tournament of the fall season as The Beach finished in 13th place in their season opening tournament at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. LBSU recorded a 35-over 899 (302-300-297) during the two-day tournament. Hoey and Zavaleta led The Beach as both players finished tied for 29th with two other individuals. Both players finished the tournament with a five-over 221.
“We are bringing back in a little help from our All-American Kay Hoey,” said head coach Joey Cerulle. “She will help us take down Sahali Golf Course and an extremely talented field.”
Opening round action begins at 9 a.m. with second round play teeing off at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and final round starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Live scoring of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational can be followed on golfstat.com.
