The Long Beach State women’s basketball program’s 2010-11 recruiting class was ranked among the top 60 in the nation according to ESPN Hoopgurlz.com.
The 49ers’ recruiting class, which includes Janae Coffee, Chantel Dooley and Brandi Henton, earned the highest ranking among Big West schools at No. 57 and came in just behind Pac-10 members UCLA (No. 55) and Oregon (No. 56).
Coffee, a 6-foot-3 center, led the group with a No. 25 ranking among post players. The Fresno, Calif., native guided Clovis West High School to a Tri-River Athletic League title and a runner-up finish in the Central Section Division I championships as a junior.
Henton (Modesto, Calif.) and Dooley (Northridge, Calif.), meanwhile, were ranked 34th and 47th among point guards, respectively. Henton, the two-time reigning Trans Valley League MVP, has led Modesto Christian High School to a pair of San Joaquin Section championships.
Dooley, a team captain at Montclair Prep High School, was a first-team All-CIF and first-team All-Olympic League selection after guiding the Mounties to the 2008-09 Division VA Southern Section semifinals.
