It was a happy homecoming for the 49ers, as they pounded the Princeton Tigers in an 11-4 win, their first home match in over a month.  It was the second Long Beach State victory over an Ivy League team of the day, after the women’s tennis team beat Cornell.    Cecilia Canetti led the 49ers with 3 goals.

The 49ers got out to a quick start against the Tigers, outscoring Princeton 5-0 in the opening period. Long Beach State scored on their first possession, and then got two straight goals from Keala O’Sullivan to take a 3-0 lead.  The teams stayed even through the second period, but Long Beach State continued to extend their lead in the second half behind scores from seven different 49ers.

Defensively, the 49ers were led by goaltender Kristen Stragier, who made 11 saves on the night. The 49ers next travel to play LMU on Saturday, and then return to the Campus Pool, hosting Cal State Bakersfield at Noon on Sunday, March 22.
