It was only fitting that Hannah Grady put the finishing touches on a magical Big West career, as her singles match victory clinched Long Beach State’s sixth consecutive Big West championship.  The win, her final Big West competition, put the cherry on top of a third season of perfect play in conference, as she finishes her Big West career with a 43-1 record in singles.

Long Beach State started the day by taking the doubles point. The 49ers lost at No. 1 singles, but after an 8-3 win at No. 3 from Anais Dallara and Rachel Manasse, Deborah Armstrong and Lisa Sutton clinched the point with an 8-6 win over Courtney Byron and Miranda Young.

In singles, UC Irvine took the first point as Byron beat Manasse 6-3, 7-6, but Long Beach State stormed back to win the title. Anais Dallara earned her 20th singles win of the year by dropping Clare Fermin at 6-3, 6-4, and Julie Luzar earned a key win at No. 5, beating Rebecca Kwan 6-1, 7-6.

Grady then clinched the match, rebounding from a first-set loss to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Stephanie Hammel, giving No. 60 Long Beach State a 4-1 win over No. 56 UC Irvine.

Long Beach State will have to wait to find out its opponent in the NCAA Tournament, but will return to action in the first round beginning on May 8.
