From LBSU reports
Long Beach State easily advanced in its first match of the Big West Tennis Tournament, defeating UC Riverside 4-0 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. For postseason play, just matches completed before the clinching point count, leading to the abbreviated score, as Long Beach State controlled play throughout.
In doubles, the 49ers welcomed back Anais Dallara, who along with partner Rachel Manasse completed an 8-1 victory over Nadia Sakhakorn and Ayana Simmons. Deborah Armstrong and Lisa Sutton then clinched the doubles point with an 8-2 win over Angelique Corpuz and Donna McCullough.
In singles, Manasse defeated McCullough 6-0, 6-2, followed by Dallara who beat Corpuz 6-3, 6-1. Hannah Grady then defeated Erynne Oki 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the match for Long Beach State.
The 49ers return to action on Saturday, April 18 at 3 p.m. when the team faces the winner of this afternoon’s match between Cal State Northridge and Cal Poly. The Big West Championship Match is scheduled for April 19 at 9 a.m, so if you’re not at the Grand Prix go hit the 10 to support the ‘Niners.
