
The 49ers continued to improve with a 6-1 defeat of No. 75 Louisville yesterday, sweeping the doubles point and picking up five singles wins to beat the Cardinals. After three of four to open the season, the ‘Niners are now 10-1 since, the lone loss that tough 4-3 decision to UNLV.
The 49ers started out the day with a trio of wins in doubles. Hannah Grady and Jessica Weeks lived up to their top billing with an 8-2 win over Baez/Gorbea, and Deborah Armstrong and Lisa Sutton clinched the doubles point with a 8-4 win over Jones and Van Aerde.
In singles, Long Beach State swept the top five spots. Anais Dallara had the most impressive win, a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jo-Ann Van Aerde—click here to read the profile we ran on Dallara yesterday. Rachel Manasse also put up a zero, outlasting Lauren Imre 7-5 before a 6-0 second set.
Long Beach State concludes their busy three-match week at home this morning, hosting No. 42 Denver at 11am in the Rhodes Tennis Center.
