#121 Anais Dallara advanced to the Round of 16 at the ITA Southwest Regionals in San Diego Friday. The No. 12 seed in the tournament, Dallara defeated Marie Zalameda of Pepperdine 6-3, 6-4 to move into the third day of action.

In the 49ers other singles match in the main draw, the No. 6 seed Andrea Remynse of UCLA defeated Rachel Manasse 6-3, 6-4. The 49ers had success in the back draw however, winning three matches. Anna Jeczmionka fell to UCLA’s Stephanie Hoffpauir, and Roxanne Ellison defeated Julie Luzar in three sets 4-6, 7-6, 6-3. The 49ers got a measure of retribution from Jaklin Alawi, however, who defeated Estelle LaPorte of LMU and then defeated Ellison to continue in the back draw. Also winning in the back draw was junior Deborah Armstrong, who took down Arizona’s Claire Rietsch 7-5, 61.

In doubles, Long Beach State’s two remaining pairs in the main draw were both defeated, as Alawi/Manasse ran into the No. 1 seed of Remynse and Schnack, falling 8-3, and Armstrong/Dallara were outlasted by Johansson/Montez of UCLA 8-6.

In the final match of the day, Jeczmionka/Luzar won in the doubles back draw, defeating UC Riverside’s Plata/Raney 8-2.

Dallara continues action in the main draw on Saturday, as do Armstrong and Alawi in the back draw along with Jeczmionka/Luzar in doubles.
