Long Beach State took the doubles point to grab a 1-0 lead, and battled back to win at No. 2 singles to bring the match to a 3-3 tie in singles but a final loss gave No. 47 Pepperdine a 4-3 win over the 49ers.

No. 40 Long Beach State got the doubles point with a pair of doubles in the bottom side, as Jaklin Alawi and Rachle Manasse beat Colffer/Walters 8-1, playing at No. 2 and Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar won a No. 3 over Oates/Rice 8-6.

In singles, Pepperdine quickly rallied, taking three matches as No. 82 Arianna Colffer held form at No. 1 in defeating Alawi 6-3, 6-1, and the Waves also won at No. 3 and No. singles. Sarah Cantlay picked up Long Beach State’s first win in singles at No. 6 over Tania Rice, winning 6-1, 6-4, and Anais Dallara held on after winning the first set tiebreaker to win over Anamika Bhargava 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 2.

That set up a clinching match at No. 5 singles, and while Anna Jeczmionka won the first set 7-6 in a tiebreaker, she fell in 7-5 in the second set and lost in another close set 6-4 as the Waves picked up the home win over Long Beach State.

Long Beach State finishes the regular season tomorrow morning as the 49ers host LMU at 11 a.m. on April 17 at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
