The conference has announced that Long Beach State men’s volleyball junior Dan Alexander has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Player of the Week after helping Long Beach State to a pair of wins last weekend, including an upset of No. 3 Cal State Northridge.

Alexander finished the week with a .531 hitting percentage, with 20 kills on 32 swings, 12 blocks and four service aces.  In the upset of CSUN that allowed The Beach to clinch a MPSF Tournament berth, the middle blocker hit .467 with 10 kills on 15 swings while also recording six blocks and two service aces.  He was even better in Friday night’s win over UC Santa Barbara, hitting .588 with 10 kills on 17 swings.  He finished that match with six blocks, two service aces and four digs.

Alexander is the second 49er to earn MPSF Co-Player of the Week honors this year, joining Dean Bittner.  The award was the first player of the week honor of Alexander’s career.
