Senior Dean Bittner has been named second-team All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The honor marks the third time Bittner has been named to the AVCA All-America Team, including first-team recognition as a junior and second-team accolades as a sophomore.
Bittner (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood HS) also earned All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors for the third consecutive season after leading the 49ers in kills and kills per game as a senior. He was a third-team All-MPSF pick this year, a first-team selection as a junior and a second-team choice as a sophomore. Bittner finished this season with 502 kills (4.61 per game), 85 blocks (0.78 per game) and 41 service aces (0.38 per game). He earned national player of the week accolades on Jan. 25, his Long Beach State record-tying fourth national player of the week honor. The opposite finished his career second all-time in kills at Long Beach State with 1,872, as well as second in total kill attempts (3,931) and most matches with 20+ kills (40), third in most matches with 10+ kills (91), fourth in service aces (130) and sixth in service ace average (.310).
