Story From Long Beach State Sports Information Department
Long Beach State was unable to recover from a fast start by San Diego State, losing 12-8 in their second game on a two-game road trip. Cecelia Canetti, Lauren Sieprath and Branwyn Lee each scored two goals.
Long Beach State opened up the game with a 2-1 lead with Becky Gentner putting The Beach on top early in the period. San Diego State would score four unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead on the way to a 5-3 first period lead.
The teams would remain even in the second period with both the Aztecs and the 49ers scoring two goals in the second period. Long Beach State opened the second half a score from Krizia Cerda, but San Diego State would answer and outscore the 49ers in the third and fourth periods to take the 12-8 win.
Long Beach State continues to play on the road for the next few weeks. Next up for the 49ers is a road contest at USC on Friday at 6pm.
