Head coach Gavin Arroyo has announced the addition of Alison Gregorka to the women’s water polo coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. Gregorka joins Arroyo, Heather Moody and Kyle Gorham as part of the staff. 

Gregorka comes to The Beach straight from the USA national team, where she is a defender having made her debut with the team in 2006. She helped the team earn a Silver Medal at the Beijing Olympics, and tied for the team lead with 12 goals at the 2007 Pan American games, helping the USA qualify for Beijing.

“The Olympic experience that she brings really makes her a positive role model for the team,” said Arroyo. “The way she moves and her skill set are a prototype for the kind of player that we’re trying to build here, and she sets a great example.”

Long Beach State continues the 2009 regular season this weekend with two road contests against UC San Diego and San Diego State. No. 13 Long Beach State next plays at home against Princeton on March 18.
