Matt Farrington scored two goals to lead the No. 8 Long Beach State 49ers in a, 13-7, loss to No. 2 Cal in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Conference match Sunday afternoon at the Long Beach State 49er Campus Pool.

Long Beach State (8-11, 1-6) trailed Cal, 4-3, early in the second period before Cal scored four of the next five goals to put the game out of reach. The Bears (17-4, 4-1) were led by Ivan Rackov who scored four goals for Cal including three in the third quarter when the Bears pulled away from The Beach.

The Beach also got goals from six different players including Brian Schiefer, Carter Taylor, Jordan Koeppen, Justin Koeppen, Patrick van der Linde.

Goalie Derek Wiebe-Bailey had a game-high nine saves for The Beach.

Long Beach State’s next game is Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. PT, at the 49er Campus Pool. The 49ers will take on the No. 6 lions of Loyola Marymount.
