The Long Beach State men’s golf team completed its first tournament of the spring season by finishing in 14th place at the Arizona Intercollegiate on Tuesday early afternoon. The 49ers recorded a 306 in the final round for a three-day total of 900 (+48) at the Arizona National Golf Club.

Pepperdine won the team title with a 855 (+3) as the Waves won by three strokes over second place San Diego State with an 858 (+6) and seven strokes over third place Tennessee with an 862 (+10)

Individually for the 49ers, freshman Kevin Roy was the top player for The Beach as he finished tied for 27th with a 221 (+8). Junior Michael Drake came in second for LBSU as he tied for 31st with a 222 (+9), while fellow classman Steve Gibson tied for 76th with a 234 (+21). Freshman Austin Love also tied for 76th with a 234.

Chris Paisley of Tennessee won the individual medalist as he carded a tournament total of 201 (-12). Matt Hoffenberg of San Diego State finished in second place, just three shots behind with a 204 (-9).

The 49ers return to action as they travel to the Braveheart Classic hosted by UC Riverside on Mar. 2-3, in Beaumont, Calif.
