The Long Beach State women’s golf team travels to the Silicon Valley for the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational hosted by San Jose State. The two-day 54-hole tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,223 yard Almaden Country Club in San Jose. First and second round action begins on Monday, Mar. 8, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Mar. 9. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and will be live on golfstat.com.
Juniors Lindsey McAtee and Reina Rogers, sophomores Noelle Zavaleta and Monica Villarreal and freshman Simone Hoey will represent the 49ers as they’ll be among a 16-team field that features No. 14 California, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Nevada, Oklahoma, No. 22 Oklahoma State, San Diego State, No. 44 San Francisco, No. 36 San Jose State, Santa Clara, No. 38 UC Irvine and No. 26 UC Davis.
LBSU is coming off from a 13th place tie among an 18-team field at the Bruin Wave Invitational in Santa Clarita last week. The 49ers tied with fellow Big West Conference member Cal State Northridge as both teams finished with a score of 44-over par 620. Hoey led The Beach as she tied for 30th with a 150 (+6), followed by Villarreal with a 152 (+8) as she tied for 44th and Zavaleta at 158 (+14).
