The Long Beach City College women’s basketball team lost to visiting Los Angeles Valley College by a final score of 66-39 in a non-conference game at the Hall of Champions Gym on Saturday night.  The loss dropped the Vikings to 1-7 overall on the season while L.A. Valley improved to 3-6.

Long Beach trailed by 11 points at halftime (31-20) and was outscored 35-19 in the second. Turnovers by the Vikings were costly, as L.A. Valley scored 26 points off of 23 Long Beach turnovers.  Freshman guard Aysha Lyons led the Vikings with nine points and added eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Sophomore Cristina Lajkowicz chipped in with nine rebounds and seven points.

L.A. Valley guard Juanita Lewis led all with 22 points and 15 rebounds and guard Mariam Asaryan poured in 16 points.  Long Beach returns to action at home on Tuesday (Dec. 9) when it hosts College of the Canyons in a 5:30 p.m. non-conference game.
