
Men’s Water Polo:
The No. 3 state-ranked Long Beach City College men’s water polo team rolled to a 17-4 South Coast Conference win over El Camino College on Wednesday at LBCC. The win improved Long Beach to 15-6 overall and kept them undefeated in the SCC at 4-0.
Nine different Vikings scored in the contest with sophomore Brandon Loveless leading the scoring assault with six goals. Freshman Dusan Ivanovski had three goals and freshman Jeff Volosin added two goals. Freshman Matt Schamp posted four first-quarter saves and freshman Duran Reid closed out the game with six saves.
The Long Beach men return to action on Sunday (Oct. 26) when they travel to face Pepperdine University in an exhibition match.
Women’s Water Polo:
The No. 3 state-ranked Long Beach City College women’s water polo team picked up a 6-3 South Coast Conference win over El Camino College on Wednesday at LBCC. The win improved Long Beach to 19-5 overall and 4-1 in the SCC.
LBCC head coach elected to play his reserves for the entirety of the game and they didn’t disappoint. Long Beach never trailed, but held only a slim 2-1 lead after the first quarter. But the Vikings scored three unanswered goals to build a commanding 5-1 advantage after three quarters. Freshman Annie Savoji led the Vikings with three goals, freshman Katie Shea scored twice, and freshman Stacy Orr had a goal to account for the Vikings’ scoring.
The LBCC women return to SCC action next Wednesday (Oct. 29) when they travel to Mt. San Antonio College.
