The LBCC Vikings improved to 8-1 (2-0 in the WSC) after their victory over visiting Santa Barbara City College on Friday night. Seven of those wins, including the one last night, came in three-set sweeps—in other words, if you want to watch a Long Beach team win, and you don’t want to spend too much time doing it, this is your squad.
Long Beach cruised to 30-21, 30-24 wins in games one and two before the Viking reserves had a little more difficult time putting away Santa Barbara (4-5, 0-2 WSC) 30-28 in game three. Sophomore right side Chuck Chamberlain led the Vikings with 11 kills and added two blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Antwain Aguillard had eight kills and a team-best three blocks while freshman middle blocker Fidelix Ojo posted eight kills and one block.
Long Beach returns to action next Wednesday (Mar 11) when the Vikings travel to El Camino College for a 6pm WSC match.
