The Vikings put on an offensive display in yesterday afternoon’s men’s soccer scrimmage, the first LBCC competition of the Fall season, beating HIU 3-1.
In the first half, Ritchie Ponce scored on a header from a Jesse Ventura corner, knocking it in from 8 yards out. HIU tied it up twenty minutes later with a loooong shot that was misplayed by Vikings keeper Luis Romero. Sophomore standout Manuel Bautista scored the winner at the 57-minute mark, after an assist from Juan Guzman. Alex Martinez, assisted by Bautista and Jesse Castaneda, scored the game’s final goal.
The Vikings outshot HIU 14-4, and had a large possession advantage.
The Vikings will try to keep their offensive juggernaut rolling this Friday, when they travel to College of the Desert for their opener.
