It was more of the same for the Long Beach City College women’s basketball team on Wednesday night. The Vikings couldn’t overcome a rough first half shooting and dropped a 66-37 non-conference game to visiting Santa Barbara City College at the Hall of Champions Gym.
Long Beach lost its fourth straight to fall to 3-12 overall while Santa Barbara improved to 8-9 with the win.
LBCC made just 3 of 23 shots in the first half and trailed 38-11 at halftime.
The Vikings turned it around a bit in the second half and was narrowly outscored by SBCC 28-26 over the final 20 minutes of the game.
Freshman forward Rayven Sellers led Long Beach with 9 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman forward Lynnsie Nallus chipped in with 8 points and 11 rebounds.
Francesca DeAngelis led SBCC with 15 points while Arsema Berhane posted a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Long Beach returns to action on January 8 when it travels to L.A. Trade Tech College for a 5:30 p.m. South Coast Conference interdivision game.
