The Long Beach City College baseball team pounded out 16 hits on its way to a 14-2 South Coast Conference win over visiting Los Angeles City College on Tuesday at Joe Hicks Memorial Field.  The win snapped the Vikings’ two-game losing streak and keeps them tied for first place in the SCC standings with a 6-3 record (13-10 overall).

Long Beach led 4-2 after four innings before breaking the game open in the bottom of the fifth, with four runs—shortstop Hector Iribe drove in two runs with a single, second baseman Trevor Costin plated a run with his one-out groundout, and catcher Jonathan Keener brought in Iribe with a RBI double.  The Vikings put up four more runs in the bottom of the seventh. The big blow was a two-run single by right fielder Randy Guite.

Costin went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and two runs to lead LBCC at the plate. Iribe (3 for 5, 3 runs), Guite (2 for 5), and pitcher Jared Smith (1 for 4) all had two RBI for Long Beach.
