
Last Sunday, at the El Dorado Golf Course, the Long Beach Poly girls’ water polo banquet gave the team time to recognize their accomplishments, in a season where they finished third in the Moore League and qualified for the CIF playoffs. Recognizing those who made first team all-league, Coach Penttila congratulated senior Hayley Berryhill, junior Orla Brazell, and junior Nicole Van DerHoof. The MVP for Defense was awarded to senior goalie Hayley Berryhill, who had over 165 saves for the season. Junior and lefty Orla Brazell was awarded MVP for Offense while racking up 64 goals, 46 Assists, 69 steals and a 3 goals per-game average. The all-around MVP was awarded to Nicole Vanderhoof, with 71 goals, 22 assists, 11 steals and a 2.6 goals per game average. Additionally, the coaches’ award was given to senior Marina Wraight, the Hardest Worker award to junior Megan Gil and the Most Improved to sophomore Laura Hyunh.
