This is one of those weird designations like “Preseason All-American,” but 400 high school football players have been officially nominated for the January 2010 US Army All-American Bowl, including several locals—the LA Times’ Ben Bolch points out that 47 of the 400 are Californians.

From the Moore League, James McConico of Compton is nominated, certainly not surprising given his 20-yards per-carry average last season, and Compton’s history of sending players to the Bowl (including Chris Metcalf last season).  Kevin Anderson, the receiver from Lakewood, and Kaelin Clay, receiver from Poly, have also been nominated.  Final rosters won’t be named for some time, but we’ll keep you updated when they come out.
