In the opening round of the Newport Elks Tournament on Friday, Compton baseball lost their season-opener to Santa Ana High, 8-0.  Notching 14 Ks, the Santa Ana pitchers no-hit the Tarbabes.  Compton’s infield defense was strong, but the outfield played without much life, excepting Alberto Becerra in left field, whose diving catch in the second inning stopped a Santa Ana rally.  Compton’s speedy base-runners notched four stolen bases, with Pedro Vanegas taking three, and Eric Dairy with one.

We’ll keep you posted as the Tarbabes progress through the tourney.
