Today and tomorrow a meet-best ten wrestlers from the Moore League are competing in the CIF Master Meet at Temecula Valley High School—Lakewood has seven wrestlers in the meet, the most of any school, as well as two from Millikan, and one from Poly.

The top nine wrestlers from each weight class will move on to next week’s state meet in Bakersfield, the holy grail of prep wrestling.  We’ll bring you updates after the meet is over, but be sure to root for Lakewood’s sophomore phenom Kimo Napohaku (125 pounds), along with Nick Martinez (152), Chase Mirassou (171) heavyweight Oscar Rivera, John Barrera (189), Carlos Rivera (215) and Stephen Araujo (130).  The representatives from Millikan are Abel Moran (140) and teammate Nick Pena (145)—Poly sends Jesus Preciado (135).

Wrestlers qualified for the Masters Meet by placing in the top five of each weight class at last weekend’s CIF tourney.
