Déjà vu seemed like a very good thing for St. Anthony on Saturday, as they beat Montclair Prep for the second time in a little over two weeks, this time to be crowned SoCal Regional Champs, and advance to the Division 5 state title game next Saturday, in Bakersfield at 9:30am.  There was a little more drama in this game, with the Saints trailing towards the end of the third quarter before mounting a comeback against the Mounties.

But athleticism, and a tremendous height advantage proved the difference.  Towards the end of the game the Saints had plenty left in the gas tank, going on a 12-0 run late in the third quarter and into the fourth, holding the Mounties scoreless for almost five minutes.  Kendall Cooper rebounded from a foul-plagued first meeting with Montclair, as the freshman put her team on her back, with 16 points and 11 boards (the Saints outrebounded the Mounties 56-26).

Rina Towne was efficient as always, with nine points on just seven shots, and Paris Lamar put in ten good minutes, with nine boards in that span.  Chantel Dooley wasn’t the force she was before against the Saints, as she was hampered due to a bad case of the flu.  She battled through it to lead her team with 15 points, but would eventually collapse on the floor from exhaustion.

The win means the Saints’ historic season keeps on rolling, as they’ll face Pinewood, the NorCal champs, next weekend, with the state of California on the line.  Stay tuned for previews this week, and congrats to the Saints!
