CIF just posted the playoff brackets for softball, and four of our local teams learned where their playoff journeys will begin.
Lakewood, the Moore League’s top team, will start on Thursday, May 21st (at 3:15pm) by hosting Chaparral, the number 3 seed from the Southwestern League. If they advance they’ll play the winner of California/Mayfair on Thursday.
Wilson, the league’ second seed, will visit Laguna Hills, a tough first-round draw for a second place team. Their game will also be Thursday at 3:15; if they advance they’ll face the winner of Canyon Springs and their first-round opponent, a Wild Card winner on Tuesday.
Poly, the league’s third-place finisher, has an even tougher first-round draw in that they’ll have to visit Redlands, the champion of the Citrus Belt league. Their game will also be held Thursday at 3:15pm. If they advance they’ll play the winner of Norwalk and Don Lugo.
Millikan made it in as an at-large Wild Card bid; their road starts Tuesday at 3:15pm, as they visit Cerritos. With a win they’ll face Vista Murrieta, the top seed in the tourney.
